Not got around to adding anything to the posts over the past few weeks. Progress seems slow.
When I last updated this w/b 19th there were 3 piles still to go in. Well these went in with 1 problem. The pile on the corner of the garage nearest the stream / Cherry Tree Walk hit a stream underground and the hole filled up immediately. So they have moved this some 2 feet towards the centre of the garage and will need to canterlever across.
Work started on getting the trenches for ring beams
Last week was a bit slow as the piling chaps ran out of the material needed for lining the bottom of the trenches – a polystyrene honeycomb material which has a card top which given a compressible layer between the ring beam and the soil. This is then covered with a layer of concrete to form a surface on which the metal lattice for the ring beams is placed.
Anyway by the end of last week 30th Nov all the trenches had been completed – with Joe and Michael the two Poles from the piling crew working on Saturday am. On Fri 29th the UK piling crew turned up about midday having been chased by Martin and managed to get virtually nothing done. No work was done on the 28th as the delviery of the polystyrene needed to arrive and did about 2.30 – 3.00 pm. So by end of the Sat we had all teh trenches and the trenches the kitchen side with the polystyrene and concrete covers.
Work started on Monday with the polystyrene at then bottom of all the trenches and concrete on the area at the lowest points of the garage at the garden end.
By Tues looks like concreted all the other levels by midday and started work in ernest on the metalwork for the ring beams.
