Description
Little Mount is a substantial and beautifully maintained period property that has been sympathetically altered and improved by the present owners, resulting in a well-deserved Architectural and Environmental Award from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Extreme care and attention to detail has resulted in a most appealing home that is equally suited to both family living and entertaining.
Internally, the generously proportioned accommodation is light and airy and the many features include high ceilings, parquet flooring in the reception hall, windows with decorative leaded-light detailing to the upper panels, arched feature windows, log burners and/or period fireplaces in many of the rooms, original servants’ bell indicator boards, a wine cellar and an unusually large master en suite bathroom.
GROUND FLOOR
The spacious reception hall provides a welcoming impression upon entering the house and not only opens out to the principal reception rooms but also provides access to the rear terrace and swimming pool area, thereby providing excellent entertaining space. The elegant drawing room boasts two bay windows, one of which opens out to the rear terrace, whilst the adjoining family room enjoys direct access to an additional verandah and the swimming pool area. Due to the close proximity of this room to the pool, and for convenience, it has been equipped with a worksurface with an inset sink unit, kitchen units and an integral refrigerator. Situated on the other side of the reception hall is a good-size dining room featuring stripped wooden floorboards, a cloakroom and a study overlooking the rear gardens. The bright kitchen/breakfast room is fitted with a range of wall and base units, a ceramic sink unit, an Aga and integral appliances including a Neff 4-ring ceramic hob, an electric oven, a refrigerator and a dishwasher; the breakfast area is complemented by a built-in pine Welsh dresser and a pine shelved unit with an integral wine rack and a desktop. The ground floor further comprises a utility room, a useful walk-in pantry with fitted shelving and a wine cellar.
FIRST FLOOR
The master bedroom, measuring an impressive 24’3 in length, benefits from two bay windows that afford plenty of natural light and a remarkably large en suite bathroom featuring a centrally situated bath, a separate shower cubicle, a vanity unit extending the entire width of one wall, a WC, a bidet and fitted wardrobe cupboards. There are three further bedrooms on this floor, two with en suite shower rooms, a family bathroom and separate WC.
SECOND FLOOR
Situated on the second floor are three additional bedrooms, a shower room and a good-size store room, accessible via separate doors.
OUTBUILDINGS
Situated within a covered walkway to the side of the house is a brick-built garden/machinery store and a workshop with light and power. A personal door opens from the workshop into the double garage which may be accessed from the driveway via twin up-and-over doors.
An attractive Victorian style greenhouse is located to one side of the rear gardens and it is worth noting that there is an area of hard standing with electricity in situ, should the erection of an outbuilding be required.
GARDENS
The property is approached via electrically operated, wrought iron gates with entry-phone, set between brick piers and opening onto a gravelled driveway and turning circle that provides ample parking and access to the double garage. Principally laid to lawn, the gardens are stocked with a wide variety of plants, shrubs and trees to create a delightful setting for the house, enhanced by a decorative parterre set within the front lawn. To the rear, the gardens are undoubtedly a fine feature of the property and combined with the sun terrace, verandah and swimming pool area, provide superb leisure and entertaining space. Located at the side of the swimming pool area is a pool/summer house containing the pool equipment and also providing a useful changing area.
